from one gamer to another
"You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have." - Maya Angelou
My name is Kate, and I'm a 26 year old freelance digital illustrator in western Washington. I'm a customer success specialist with a small software company that builds apps (such as for Shopify), but when I'm not at work I'm usually drawing, gaming, or any other variety of creative hyperfixations that have a hold on me at the moment.
I'm happily married to my highschool sweetheart, who is my rock and supporter in all of my crazy endeavors. We have two cats named Bruno and Hiccup, and a 9 month old standard poodle puppy named Kona.
At the risk of sounding cliche, I've been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pen. Art has always been a part of my life and I'm so lucky to be able to use this hobby as a source of income as well.
While I wouldn't say I grew up gaming, video and computer games have always been a part of my life in some way or another. To my great devastation as a child I never had my own gameboys, and never had the coveted Nintendo DS. I got my greedy hands on whatever console my friends happened to have. We had some solo games here and there that you could plug into the TV, and one day my parents got a Wii, which changed everything. Wii games became nightly fun for my family, everything from Wii sports to Mario Kart and Sonic Sega racing to Guardians of Ga'Hoole.
Today as an adult with adult money things are a bit different. I got my coveted Nintendo DS when I was 19. My husband helped me built a PC which I started gaming on in 2020, and I got my Nintendo Switch the following year. My favorite genre are metroidvanias, but I'm a victim of plenty other indie darlings like Stardew, The Last Campfire, Spiritfarer, and more.
